Drummond Island and Detour

A conference on Drummond Island and a visit to friends in Detour gave me a few shots of ships.  Posting just a few.  The Tim S Dool, Lee A Tregurtha, CSL Niagara, Saginaw, and Calumet.

Herbert C Jackson, Lee A Tregurtha

Two days in Marquette, two ships.  With shipping at such a slow rate, it was a treat.  The Herbert C Jackson came in for ore and left in the fog.  The Lee A Tregurtha came in on a drizzly day with a load of coal.  Today the James Barker is also in delivering coal.  It seems we're getting coal shipments more than shipping out ore.  Not good for the economy.  The last pic shows the Lee A putting the second man down on the dock.

Wilfred Sykes, Lee A Tregurtha

Wonderful hubby brought me to Escanaba yesterday so I could catch the Wilfred Sykes arriving for ore on a bright and sunny day.  Also caught another favorite ship in Marquette today loading ore after bringing a load of coal.  The sun, when it shone today, was in the wrong direction for good pics, but I tried.

John G Munson, Lee A Tregurtha, Kaye E Barker

It's been a while since I posted, but haven't seen a lot of ships because we've been so very busy.  Our schedules will slow down about the same time as shipping comes to a near halt!  Anyway, here are a few more pics.   The Lee A Tregurtha loaded late at night, the John G Munson arrived with  coal, (a rare visitor) and the Kaye E Barker arrived at the lower harbor with what appeared to be a load of stone.

Fall Color, Robert S Pierson, Herbert C Jackson, Lee A Tregurtha

Had an absolutely beautiful day yesterday.  After church we headed to Marquette and then L'Anse.  Caught the Robert S Pierson leaving Marquette, then headed to L'Anse and enjoyed beautiful fall colors.  Returning through Marquette saw the Herbert C Jackson and Lee A Tregurtha both at the dock, the Lee A taking on ore, the Jackson dropping coal.  A couple deer were also enjoying time at the dock.

Lee A Tregurtha

The Lee A Tregurtha arrived on a beautiful Wednesday.  It was a great day for standing out on the beach taking pictures.  One of my favorite ships, and perfect weather, too.  Both Barkers (Kaye and James) were arriving later, but I didn't stay around to get their pics.  Hoping the Big Barker will still be in when we go in tomorrow.

Lee A Tregurtha

The Lee A Tregurtha arrived in Marquette today.  It was bright and sunny out, but very chilly at the waterfront because of the wind.  Still, nice to see LaLa at the dock.

We'll be doing some traveling for a while, and don't know if I'll be able to get my password to work on the laptop, so if you don't see any postings for a while, you'll know why.    Thanks for checking in.
