Didn't realize how long it's been since I last posted pics. Yikes! Will have to do this in stages. Not sure what order these will appear: Herbert C Jackson with the deer, fleetmates Robert S Pierson and Saginaw, and the H Lee White unloading coal in the lower harbor.

Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder, Herbert C Jackson, Kaye E Barker
Posting pics from a wild and wooly Tuesday in Marquette with three ships coming in and anchoring because the wind was too strong for them to approach the dock. The Kaye E Barker was the last to arrive, but the first to go to the dock. She went to the south side of Marquette's Cliffs ore dock. Pic (again backward from how I uploaded them) show her putting a man down.

H C Jackson, Michipicoten, Olympic Miracle, Presque Isle, Algocape
(For some reason Blogger now puts my pics in the opposite order, so please consider that as you look at the pics. Haven't found a link to fix that.) Caught the Herbert C Jackson and Michipicoten in Marquette on Thursday. The Michi came in late, so the pic is not the best, as I didn't use a tripod. Went to the Soo Friday and got the Olympic Miracle, Presque Isle (tug/barge), and Algocape in the fog. The OM and PI were upbound, the Algo was approaching the Mac Lock. Back home and now it's snowing out. Yes!

Fall Color, Robert S Pierson, Herbert C Jackson, Lee A Tregurtha
Had an absolutely beautiful day yesterday. After church we headed to Marquette and then L'Anse. Caught the Robert S Pierson leaving Marquette, then headed to L'Anse and enjoyed beautiful fall colors. Returning through Marquette saw the Herbert C Jackson and Lee A Tregurtha both at the dock, the Lee A taking on ore, the Jackson dropping coal. A couple deer were also enjoying time at the dock.

Saginaw, Canadian Lader, H C Jackson
Had another great day in Marquette yesterday. Although bright sunlight made it difficult to get good pictures, it was still fun! Both the Canadian Leader and Saginaw were at the dock loading, and the Herbert C Jackson brought coal to the Shiras dock in the lower harbor before going to the ore dock later in the day. How good is that! The James Barker is in today at the upper harbor coal hopper, but too busy to go in for a pic.

Dorothy Anne/Pathfinder, Jackson, Pierson
Yesterday was quite the day! the Dorothy Anne/Pathfinder dropped stone at Marquette's Shiras dock in the lower harbor, then, while departing the dock, hit something that took a piece from the tug and allowed fuel to leak into the harbor. The USCoast Guard and the DEQ closed the harbor for a while. Divers spent a lot of time checking and searching for the missing piece(!!). The tug/barge remained in the harbor at anchor, but have moved this morning. They have a load waiting for them at the ore dock.
The Herbert C Jackson loaded ore while all this was going on, and the Robert S. Pierson arrived for a load, too. The Pierson had to tie up to the south side of the dock (which was loaded for the Pathfinder....companies take different types of ore) until the Jackson was finished, then moved to the north side for her load. Will see how many pics this blog will let me post... :o)
